From the parking area, look for the Lame Horse Trail to start your loop. You come to a trail junction quickly. Go left, taking the South Fork Little Deer Creek Trail 252 downhill into the aspens. When you arrive at Cascade Springs Road, cross it and continue to the first large meadow. As you decent downhill you come to the next junction, at 1.5 miles. Take Ridge Trail 157 going left. When you arrive at a stop sign at the highway, cross to the other side. You are now in the lowest area and the trail starts uphill for the ridgeline. At 3 miles, the trail opens to spectacular views of Mount Timpanogos. You arrive at the junction for Ridge Trail 157. Go left heading uphill. This secton is the highest part of the trail and a good place for  lunch with a view of Mount Timpanogos. After lunch the, trail starts downhill to the junction of Mud Springs. Go left staying on Ridge Trail 157. There will be two more junctions as you make your way back your to the start. Stay left on both. This trail offers beautiful backside views of Mount Timpanogos. Take the view in!
