WOODS CROSS — A woman riding her bicycle hit her head Friday night when she rode through a diesel fuel spill near 500 South and 700 West and fell.
The woman, whose identity was not released, was taken to Intermountain Medical Center suffering from head trauma, said South Davis Metro Fire Agency Chief Jeff Bassett. Her condition was upgraded on Sunday.
The accident happened about 7:30 p.m. when the driver filing his truck with fuel didn’t disconnect the hose from the truck before driving off, according to Bassett. The driver dumped about 50 gallons of fuel in the eastbound traffic lanes of 500 South.
Hazmat crews from the fire agency helped clean up the mess, along with a cleanup crew from the trucking company. Holly Oil provided the sand, Bassett said.
The filling station where the event occurred is part of HollyFrontier’s refinery facility.
