FARMINGTONIt’s a chance to clean out your basement, do some shopping and help a little girl in need.

A fundraising yard sale, set for Aug. 17 from 8 a.m.-noon, will help raise money for Courtney Simon, a three-year-old Farmington girl who has cancer of the connective tissue. Organizers are accepting donations for the yard sale through Aug. 16.

“We just wanted to help the family in any way we could,” said Lisa Bergstrom, one of the people organizing the sale. “Courtney is so young, and going through all that pain and heartache. We thought that, even if we could help a little bit, that would be great.”

The yard sale will be held at 14 W. 620 South in Farmington, at the Bergstrom and Hamilton homes. All of the money raised at the sale will go to Courtney and her family.

Donations can be dropped off at the Bergstrom home at any time on Thursday, and those with large donations can call 801-540-0450 and arrange for a pickup if necessary. All items must be usable.

“We’ve got clothes, kids’ stuff, barbecues, everything,” said Bergstrom. “People have just been cleaning out their house and bringing over what they have.”
