Bank aids food pantry

BOUNTIFUL –  The Bountiful Community Food Pantry received many needed items Wednesday as part of the Bank of Utah’s “Shower Them With Love” project.

Volunteers from the bank’s Layton branch unloaded diapers, clothes and other items at the food pantry. It was the culmination of a July collection effort, a bank press release said.

Thirteen bank branches across the state participated in the effort. 

Online school gets high marks

BOUNTIFUL – A survey conducted by Utah Connections Academy, which offers online classes for K-12 students, found 45 percent of parents choose the educational format because of its flexible schedule.

The survey also indicates that 47 percent chose to enroll their children in the program because they wanted a different environment than the one their current school offered, 31 percent said their child was at risk of academic failure and wanted more intensive and personalized instruction, 26 percent wanted a safe environment for their child, and another 26 percent wanted more involvement in their child’s learning.

The virtual school received A or B rankings from 91 percent of parents. Almost all parents Р 97 percent Р said they are pleased with the helpfulness of the children’s teachers and called the curriculum high quality.
