CLEARFIELD — Members of the Davis County Board of Health will hear a presentation on “vaping,” at its Aug. 13 board meeting.
Board members are concerned about the increasing use of the synthetic nicotine, and have been discussing the issue intermittently for several months.
Vaping is slang for inhaling vapor from E-cigarettes. The term “smoking,” doesn’t apply because there is no smoke, only vapor, according to the Urban Dictionary.
Vaping E-cigarettes is an alternative to smoking tobacco, because it can be done in areas where smoking is prohibited and it doesn’t have the same harsh chemicals as cigarettes. Some smokers use them to cut down or cut out cigarettes.
However, many health experts say people who vape are getting as much or more nicotine as smokers.
The board of health will meet Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 7:30* a.m. in the department’s board room, 22 S. State, in Clearfield.
