Hansen to speak at college

LAYTON — On Friday, April 17, Former U.S. congressman Jim Hansen will speak at the Eagle Gate College commencement.

Eagle Gate College is located in Layton and celebrating the graduation of its Spring 2009 class. The campus was established in 2004. The commencement ceremony will be held at the Egyptian Theater in Ogden at 6 p.m. Layton campus president Karen Smith will confer the degrees.

“For Eagle Gate College graduates, the commencement ceremony is the culmination of the students’ hard work and dedication to improve their lives,” said Smith. “We are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of each graduate on this special day.”

Hansen was elected to the U.S. Congress in 1980 until 2003. He has been involved in business, military and aviation development. He was part of the fight to keep Hill Air Force Base in Utah, worked with public lands and mortgage companies and has helped preserve the aviation industry in Utah.
