FARMINGTON — A woman was hospitalized with back and hip injuries after a vehicle rolled on top of her near the top of Farmington Canyon and dragged her down the mountain Monday evening.
The accident happened at about 5 p.m. when a pickup truck got stuck about half a mile north of the Francis Peak towers, according to Davis County Sheriff’s Sgt. Susan Poulsen.
The canyon road was closed, helicopters were called to the scene and a command center was set up at Farmington Pond.
A second pickup tried to pull the first pickup out, and one of the vehicles rolled on top of the 41-year-old woman, who was apparently standing too closely, Poulsen said.
“It dragged her down the mountain a bit,” Poulsen said.
The woman complained of back and hip injuries and was taken by medical helicopter to an area hospital. Poulsen said she was conscious and alert at the time. There was no further information on the woman.
The driver of the stuck pickup was cited for failure to maintain control.
