Three extra weeks of school for Davis County students on year-round schedules have been filled with continued studies and testing, and peppered with activities and presentations. First and second graders at Foxboro Elementary in North Salt Lake performed skits and songs entirely in French (above and right). Royal courts listened to the ideas of their subjects and students sang of pizza and told stories of Halloween at the French immersion school. At Lincoln Elementary in Layton, students participated in their annual Olympics (below), throwing javelins, running relays and taking standing long-jumps. “We want to keep them motivated,” said Christine Whitaker, principal. “Even if their older brothers and sisters are at home in bed, we want to keep them excited about school.” Three of the tracks on year-round schedules ended June 26. All Davis County students have the next three weeks off and the students on year-round tracks A, B and C return to school on July 25.
