FARMINGTON – About 2,500 bicycle riders are expected for the 20th annual Antelope By Moonlight Bike Ride. It’s set for July 19 at 10 p.m. on Antelope Island.
The event is a non-competitive ride rather than race, and has involved riders from age 5 to 90, said Barry Burton, Davis County Planning Department Director.
Prior to the ride, there will exhibitions by 5050 Bike and Skate shop. Prizes will be offered for the best decorated bike or rider.
This year’s theme is “10 Years: Still Chasing the Moon.” Judging will be at 9:30 p.m. on the main stage at White Rock Bay.
The ride will start at White Rock Bay rather than the marina, this year. Half-way point will be Fielding Garr Ranch, where there will be refreshments. In addition, Endless Summer Band will perform.
Register by July 12 at AntelopebyMoonlight.com. There will be no on-site registration. Cost is $25 per rider including a T-shirt, park entry and refreshments.
Riders must have a working headlight and taillight, and helmets are mandatory. Lights and helmets will be sold at the ride.
Proceeds go to Friends of Antelope Island for projects that “enhance the visitor experience,” Roundy said.
