FRUIT HEIGHTS — A toddler was reunited with his family Tuesday afternoon after a Good Samaritan came to his rescue.
Shortly after 3 p.m. a man saw the 3-year-old wandering toward Highway 89 from Country Way, said Davis County Sheriff’s Sgt. Susan Poulsen.
There seemed to be no adults around, so the man took the child to an elderly female neighbor’s home.
The woman took the child in, gave him cookies and something to drink and called the sheriff’s office.
A deputy arrived to find the child and the woman having a cookie break on the porch, Poulsen said.
As they were determining where the boy lived, a 14-year-old called 911 requesting help finding his younger brother, whom he had been baby sitting.
The family was visiting from Texas and the mother had left the child in the care of the teen.
“We have to report so much bad news, it’s good to report some good news for a change,” Poulsen said, thanking the man and the woman for seeing to the safety of the child.
