Howard W. Schmutz, Jr. passed away June 14, 2013, peacefully in his home from heart complications. He was a loving husband, dad, brother, grandpa and friend.
Howard was born September 18, 1942 in Meadow, Utah, the son of Howard W. and Fae Elna Bushnell Schmutz. He married the love of his life Carol Hovey in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 30, 1967. He served an LDS Southwest Indian Mission in Arizona and graduated from the University of Utah. He worked 40 years in the automotive industry but his real talent was showing love and compassion to everyone he met. Howard had a strong testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ and followed His example.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carol. His four children Michelle (Allen) Georgeson of Maple Valley, WA, Howard W. (Nancy) Schmutz, Clinton; Sherry (David) Wofford,Tarpon Springs, FL; Krista (Russ) Keetch, Kaysville; and brothers, Duane (Kathie) Schmutz, Sandy; Dale (Rosemarie) Schmutz, Bountiful; and sister, Janice (Spencer) Holmgren, Bear River, UT, 15 super grandchildren that he adored and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson Seth.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 21 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Church 102 East 1400 South, Bountiful with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful. Interment will be at the Meadow, Utah Cemetery at 4 p.m.
