CLEARFIELD — Clearfield Police believe they’ve found the man responsible for the robbery of a cigarette shop on June 4.

Robert Tyler Cameron, 29, was arrested by Salt Lake City Police on suspicion of three counts of armed robbery there.

“I don’t believe we’ve filed charges yet, but those will be forthcoming,” said Assistant Clearfield Police Chief Mike Stenquist on Tuesday.

Police believe Cameron robbed Smokey’s Discount Cigarette Store, 1580 S. State Street, on June 4, said Clearfield Police Lt. Adam Malan, following the robbery.

The man demanded money from an employee and was given cash. He also took several boxes of Marlboro cigarettes, Malan said.

“We’re confident (Cameron) is the same individual,” Stenquist said.

Clearfield Police helped Salt Lake City officers with the investigation and helped serve a search warrant, Stenquist said.

“We appreciate Salt Lake City’s work on the case,” Stenquist said. “It’s nice to clear that case from the books.

Cameron is accused of robbing a Subway, Dollar Tree and Maggie Moos in Salt Lake City in May.
