LAYTON —  The Weber Basin Water Conservancy District has imposed irrigation watering restrictions.

“Due to the extremely low water supply this spring,” an immediate, 20 percent reduction has been approved by its board of trustees to all wholesale irrigation water customers, a press release from Weber Basin said.

That includes agricultural and secondary water deliveries.

All of those who use water for lawns and gardens are being asked to “voluntarily cut back on their watering by at least 20 percent,” the release said. “Given the extremity of this year’s conditions, excessive watering of any type will not be allowed.”

Outside watering is not allowed between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. District personnel will be patrolling to ensure this policy is followed.

In addition, irrigation water deliveries will end on Oct. 1, instead of the normal Oct. 15, the release said, in an effort to conserve water for next year’s needs.
