NORTH SALT LAKE — An adoptive mother to seven children, Nancy has always been a mother at heart, said her mayor Len Arave.
“Nancy is a true example of what it takes to be a mother, and that a mother is something that isn’t just given it’s something that is earned,” he wrote.
Nancy’s experience of motherhood started when she and her husband adopted two American girls.
Then, Nancy saw a photo of a Russian boy at an orphanage and knew she had to help. She adopted him and later two more children from that country.
In time, the couple would take in a total of seven children from around the world, five of whom had physical handicaps.
In addition to loving them through challenges such as Spina Bifida and Downs Syndrome, Nancy found time for each of her children play musical instruments or sports.
She continues to open her mom to foreign exchange students, Arave wrote.
