WOODS CROSS — Attempting to climb back into the playoff hunt, the Woods Cross Wildcats soccer team downed lowly Clearfield Tuesday 5-2.
Bountiful battled to a tie with the Leopards, and Davis’ loss to Layton has the Darts on the outside looking in on the 5A playoff picture.
Viewmont also battled well, taking down West 3-1 to maintain its position in Region 2 as the season wanes.
Wildcats pick up second Region 6 win
Ethan Cope scored a hat trick for Woods Cross Tuesday, helping the Wildcats beat Clearfield 5-2 Tuesday afternoon to keep its slim playoff hopes alive.
The win was only Woods Cross’ second in Region 6 play. The team scored three first-half goals and two second-half goals. Dallin Taggart and Matthew Cunningham also knocked in goals for Woods Cross.
Vikings beat West 3-1 to maintain Region 2 position
The Viewmont boys’ soccer team beat West Tuesday afternoon to maintain its No. 2 spot in Region 2.
Holding a 1-0 halftime lead, Mike Johnson and Austin Johnson added two more goals for the Vikings in the second half. Mike Johnson finished with a pair of goals.
Braves tie Leopards, still in the top Region 6 spot
Bountiful’s Carson Tinker and David Higginson each scored second-half goals for the Braves Tuesday afternoon, overcoming a two-goal deficit to eventually tie the East Leopards 2-2.
The tie for Bountiful meant the team maintained its lead in Region 6, having a record of 7-0-1 with two games remaining in the regular season.
Darts drop third straight, lose to Layton 2-1
The Davis Darts lost their third straight Region 1 match Tuesday when they dropped a 2-1 game to the Layton Lancers.
Davis’ only goal came in the second half. The score was a familiar one for the Darts С all three of its losses came by 2-1 scores.
