Motorcycles’ fumes destroy trail experience

I heartily agree with Conner Jensen’s letter to the editor on April 25. I was walking the Mueller Park Canyon trail last fall when within 10 minutes’ time, I had to step aside for four different motorcycle encounters. Of course, there are many bikers who we have to dodge also.

However, the big difference lies between the two С as Conner stated С the noise, for one. But my main complaint that day was the strong smell of exhaust that lingered in the air for a long time after they had passed. We were on the mountain to experience fresh air and the smell of growing things when our noses were assaulted by fumes one would expect from a crowded freeway.

Motorcycles seem to me to be out of place on our beautiful mountain trail, and they disturbed the serenity of an encounter with nature.
