Benedict Arnold over life-saving meds?

Thomas Sowell recently described a hypothetical government agency with only two functions: produce statues of Benedict Arnold and provide life-saving medication for children. He then posed an interesting question: When belt tightening becomes necessary, where are the budget cuts made?

Apparently with sequestration, the selfless statesmen we have elected and the bureaucrats who work under their direction continue to crank out statues of Benedict Arnold and are letting the children die.
