BOUNTIFUL — The man who held police in a standoff in July at a North Salt Lake duck club was found guilty of two felonies and four misdemeanors in a one-day bench trial last week.

Brian Ray Skidmore, 51, of North Salt Lake, was found guilty on felony counts of discharge of a firearm and failure to respond to an officer’s signal; one class A misdemeanor count of threatening with or use of a dangerous weapon in a fight or quarrel; and class B misdemeanor charges of carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence of alcohol, interference with an arresting officer and discharge of a firearm from a vehicle.

He will be sentenced on April 16.

On July 22, 2012, Skidmore held police in a four-hour stand-off, shooting several rounds from his 12-gauge shotgun before shooting himself in the neck, authorities said. Police took him into custody with the help of a police dog and tear gas, which they fired into his car.

At his trial, Skidmore told Judge Glen C. Dawson he had been contemplating suicide.
