WOODS CROSS — In an annual tradition that’s become a highlight in their year, members of RISE Campus Club will perform a variety of favorite songs in a show for supporters on Friday, March 8.
“They have so much fun laughing and singing together,” said Allie Gardner, who wrote this year’s show. “It’s really important to them.”
Gardner, a senior at Woods Cross High, first helped with the production two years ago and enjoyed it so much she now works with the class as they meet two afternoons a week.
“I think memorizing and getting to know their lines has been pretty hard for them, but overcoming that has been a really good experience,” she said.
“It really helps them get out of their comfort zone and learn how to be in front of people. They just have so much fun laughing and singing together. It’s really important to them.”
The class includes 10 special needs students between 18 and 40 years of age.
The Friday event starts at 7 p.m. in the Woods Cross High School Little Theater. Tickets cost $10 per person or $25 per family. Student tickets are $8 each and tickets for children are $5.
Besides the students’ performances, the night will include concessions and a charity auction to help finance the classes. Donations are tax deductable.
