Viewmont battles to a second place finish behind Wasatch twice in three days

LAYTON - The Viewmont Vikings will be happy that they won't have to face Wasatch again any time soon. The Vikes narrowly lost a duel meet to Wasatch on Thursday and then turned around and placed second overall to them again over the weekend at the Layton Invitational. "We wrestled pretty well," Viewmont coach Bart Thompson said. "We had a pretty good tourney, and came close to Wasatch." The 24 team tournament saw the Vikes finish ahead of every 5-A team involved, and had some of the best individual performances of the tournament.

Senior David Wiser was named outstanding wrestler of the tournament after he tore through the 152 pound division.

Junior Taira Abe also impressed by finishing second in the 112 pound division in his first tournament.
