BOUNTIFUL -- The brief preview of spring weather may have run its course for now, but as the Davis Chamber of Commerce noted, it's never too soon to start thinking about golf. Last year the chamber hosted a very successful golf tournament and it's anticipating this year's tournament will be even better. Scheduled for Aug. 24 at the Bountiful Ridge Golf course, it's expected the event will once again play to a sell-out crowd.

The annual tournament is held to help the chamber generate funds to continue its mission of serving the business community in Davis County. Over the past year, for instance, it was able to launch Davis Cable Channel 17 and form the support group for the Legacy Parkway, while remaining a force for business at the State Legislature. Now, once more, the chamber is asking for the business community's support. Various sponsorship packages are available by contacting the chamber offices, 295-6944, fax 298-114, or daviscc@davischamberofcommerce.com.

The sponsorship packages include the following: $2,500 Presenting Sponsor, $1,000 Major Sponsor, $500 Par Three Sponsor, $300 Tee Sponsor, $200 Green Sponsor and $25 Golf Cart Sponsor.

Each level offers the sponsor a package of benefits during the tournament, bringing attention to it throughout the event. The number of benefits is based on the level of sponsorship.

Meanwhile, player fees for the tournament are $100 per person. Prizes for first, second and third places will be awarded along with hole-in-one, longest drive and closest to the hole prizes.
