Though Mountain Crest High School earned the most points at the tournament, with Box Elder coming in second, Woods Cross took the top spot in both the first and second singles matches.
Freshman Matt Cowley claimed the first singles regional title by beating Jordan Barlow of Box Elder in the finals, 7-5, 6-3. Junior Michael Hughes took the second singles title by beating Mountain Crest's Matt Thatcher in the finals, 6-1, 6-1.
Both Cowley and Hughes will go to state as region five's number one players in first and second singles.
"I'm excited for them," said Cowley. "They did a really great job."
Taylor Horn, who took third place in third singles, also qualifies for state, as well as Woods Cross second doubles team Alex Davis and Isac Ernest. Several Bountiful players also qualified for state, including Tom Taylor, James Collier, Robbie Rasmussen, Adam Jones and Tui Setualo.
