LAYTON -- Summer Nights concerts have ended at the Ed Kenley Amphitheater, but for Kaysville-based Gangrene Productions, the show is about to begin. The seventh annual Gangrene Film Festival will be held at the amphitheater Friday, Sept. 8. This year's festival has been named "Siete," and organizers say "2006 promises to be the best year yet; it's going to be a boot stomping pinata whacking fiesta -- Gangrene style."

While even the films to be featured seem to be missing the promised pinata, the chance to watch various short comedies should let everyone find something to laugh at.

The festival is divided into two sessions. The general audience session, which starts promptly at 9 p.m., features films that are completely free of objectionable content. There is no profanity, vulgarity or sexual content. There may be a little light, comic violence. The films in this session would probably be rated G to PG, according to festival organizers.

For the late session, starting at 11 p.m., organizers suggest parental guidance and warn that the films tend to be a bit more violent. There is no sexual material of any kind. There is no lewdness or vulgarity. There may be light profanity. Some films have heavy, comic violence. These films would probably have PG to PG-13 ratings.

The general audience session features seven films, and there will be four films shown in the late session. For a listing and description of films, visit www.gangreneproductions.com.
