I feel it is important that the answers to the following questions about the possible merger of the Kaysville City Library with Davis County Library system be provided to the citizens of Kaysville:
1. If the merger is approved, what assurances will the county give that a library will stay in Kaysville City?
2. Will Kaysville City decrease the citizens' taxes if the library merges with the county?
3. Where will the money for the necessary remodeling of the present building come from? (About $28,000)
4. How will the loss of tax revenue from having a city library be accounted for? (about $47,000 per year)
5. What measures have the Kaysville City Council members taken to find out what the majority of the citizens of Kaysville City want to do with their library?
6. How will the services at the library change if the merger is approved? (Such as the reference materials being removed from the Kaysville building)
7. What kind of support will Kaysville City give to the present library staff?
8. Will the new computers that were placed in the Kaysville City Library be moved to another county branch if the merger is approved?
9. Will the county change the look and feel of the present building, so it would not match the present buildings on Main Street?
10. If the merger is approved, how will the trustees of the Blood Family Trust Fund be appointed, since there would not be a Kaysville City Library Board?
I hope the people that live in Kaysville will research what is planned for their library and voice their opinion to the city council members.
