KAYSVILLE -- Kaysville is currently taking applications for a new member of the city council. Council member Casey Hill announced his resignation at the meeting Tuesday, Oct. 17. Kaysville will accept applications for Hill's replacement until 5 p.m., Nov. 3. Only Kaysville residents may apply.

Applicants may be asked to address the city council on Nov. 7 or on Nov. 14.

Hill accepted a position as Executive Director of Policy and Awareness at the American Heart Association for the State of Utah. Under the terms of his new position, he will not be able to hold public office. Hill's 5-year-old daughter was born with a heart defect and has had numerous surgeries.

"In addition to my own interest in politics, it's an excellent opportunity to work in the effort to improve my daughter's opportunity to have a long life," said Hill.

In his farewell address, Hill took a moment to thank the council for all its efforts. "Thank you for the friendship and service. I'm going to miss a lot of what goes on here."
