The Lakesiders are the ambassadors of the Davis Chamber of Commerce. Their official responsibilities include welcoming new businesses to the county and to the Chamber, conducting ribbon-cutting ceremonies, hosting events, greeting dignitaries, and escorting special visitors. Unofficially, they are also responsible for keeping the fun afloat at all Chamber events. The Lakesider Committee is comprised of Chamber members from all types of businesses who come together to lend support and enthusiasm to their fellow business professionals.
The 2008 Lakesider Committee Captain is Shelly Nettesheim, Marketing and Community Relations Director for Apple Tree and Apple Village Assisted Living Centers. Nettesheim implemented a pirate theme at the inaugural Lakesider party for 2008. She has kept the swashbuckling swagger going ever sinceÖeven if the group's bandanas, eye patches, and swords are replaced by blue blazers and big scissors at public events.
Business owners at grand openings, re-openings, and store expansions alike are congratulated with a hearty "Aargh!" from the Lakesiders as the traditional ribbon is cut to launch each new venture. More importantly, they learn from the opening moments of their business that the Chamber and its members are supportive and interested in their success.
Call the Davis Chamber at 801-593-2200 to join the Lakesider Committee or to have them invade your business opening or expansion. It's a great way to meet key members of the community and to welcome a sense of adventure to your store or office.
