WOODS CROSS — After racking up three straight wins in Region 6 play, the Lady Wildcats lost their first region game last Thursday to Highland, 3-1.
Bountiful took advantage of the early loss by beating a tough East team 1-0 to remain unbeaten in the region.
After dropping their first match of the season to Viewmont, the Lady Darts took out their frustrations on Syracuse by scoring seven goals in a 7-1 win, and the Lady Vikings won their third region match in a row last Thursday in a 4-1 win over Weber.
Lady Wildcats drop tough match to Highland 3-1
The Woods Cross girls’ soccer team walked onto the soccer field last Thursday confident that they could extend their winning streak to four games.
But after battling to a 1-1 halftime score, Highland netted a pair of goals in the second half to hand the Lady Wildcats their first Region 6 loss of the season.
Ashlyn Farnes scored Woods Cross’ only goal in the first half, her sixth goal in as many games this season. The Lady Wildcats were held scoreless in the second half. Krystle Payne and Emma Thornton accounted for all three of Highland’s goals.
Bountiful wins fourth in a row, beat East 1-0
The Lady Braves picked up their fourth straight win last Thursday, beating East in a 1-0 battle to take sole possession of first place in Region 6.
After going into the half scoreless, Bountiful’s Miranda Tesch scored a goal late in the second half to break the scoreless tie.
At the net, Charity Cole earned her second shutout of the season. Her last shutout came against Kearns on Aug. 20.
Davis trounces Syracuse 7-1, five Darts score
To avenge its first loss of the season, the Lady Darts took out their frustration on Syracuse by scoring five first-half goals in a 7-1 win over the Titans.
Five different players scored at least one goal for Davis. Maddie Garlock and Madi Russell scored two goals each, and Haylee Cacciacarne, Ireland Dunn and Mikayla Colohan added a goal each.
For Davis, the win is the fourth in the first five games of the season.
Lady Vikings pick up third straight win, beat Weber 4-1
Jana Wall and Tori Page scored a pair of goals each for the Lady Vikings, helping Viewmont pick up its third win in a row last Thursday with a 4-1 win over Weber.
Page scored both of her goals in the first half, netting a goal in the 34th and 39th minute of play. Wall’s goals came in the 19th and 55th minutes.
Games this week
Region action continues this week as Viewmont heads to Fremont and Davis hosts Weber in Region 1.
In Region 6, Bountiful will head to Cyprus High School to face the Pirates, and Woods Cross will travel to East to face the Leopards.
All games will kick off at 3:30 p.m.
