Vikings down Lancers in boys’ soccer

BOUNTIFUL — Despite not playing a soccer match for eight days, the Viewmont Vikings boys’ soccer team shook off its rust to down Granger 5-1 in its Region 2 opener last week at home.

Woods Cross, however, didn’t fare as well last week as the Wildcats dropped their third game in a row after losing to East 2-1.

 

Viewmont scores five goals in Region 2 opener, beating Granger

The Viewmont Vikings scored five goals from five different players in order to down Granger 5-1 in the opening match in Region 2 play.

 

Davis downs Syracuse to open Region 1 play

The Darts won their fourth match in five games last Tuesday, and opened Region 1 play by beating the Syracuse Titans 3-2 thanks to an own-goal by the Titans.

Mitch Parkinson and Austin Layton each scored a single goal in the win. Parkinson netted his third goal of the season for the Darts.

 

Tinker scores late goal to lift Bountiful to victory

Carsen Tinker of Bountiful scored the game-winning goal for the Braves boys’ soccer team, allowing Bountiful to open Region 6 play with a 2-1 victory over the Cyprus Pirates.

Tinker’s second-half goal sealed the win for the Braves, who have now won two straight and four of their first six matches.

 

Wildcats downed by East in close match, 2-1

Woods Cross lost another one-goal match last Friday after losing to East 2-1.

For the sixth straight match to open the season, the Wildcats’ final score has been decided by a single goal. Their only win came against Bonneville in a 1-0 match on March 19.

Scores and statistics were provided by the respective teams.
