Principal, wife completed marathon
FAMINGTON — West Point Junior High School Principal Jed Johansen and his wife, both of whom ran in the Boston Marathon earlier today, were reported to be OK this afternoon.
Shauna Lund of the Davis School District community relations department said information from the junior high indicated he was not near any of the explosions.
“Both he and his wife are fine (her name was believed to be Sally, but could not immediately be verified),” Lund said.
Jed Johansen reportedly saw the smoke caused by the explosions but did finish the 26.2 mile marathon, West Point Junior, which monitored the race, told Lund.
A staff member from Syracuse High School also ran the race, the school district reported. The Clipper/Islander is attempting to verify that information.
At least one other Davis County resident ran the race, and was stopped at Mile 25, Lund said.
The man’s wife told her in a text that he is fine. His name could not be released by the school for confidentiality reasons.
A search of Boston Marathon results shows that 29 people from Davis County finished the race, not counting Johansen, who lives in Weber County.
