ANTELOPE ISLAND - Antelope Island State Park officials are giving area residents a chance to start the New Year in a physically active way.

The third annual First Day Hike is set to start at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1 at Bridger Bay Campground Site No. 8.

It'll be a 2 1/2 mile guided hike, each way.

Participants can see the landscape of the island and Great Salt Lake in the winter time. The geologic forces that created the area, including the ancient Lake Bonneville, will also be discussed, information from Utah State Parks said.

The regular $10 entrance fee per vehicle will be charged. For more information, call 801-721-9569 or visit http://stateparks.utah.gov/park/antelope-island-state-park/events.
