KAYSVILLE — Brandy Millward, a master’s of social work student at Utah State University’s Regional Campus in Kaysville, was named the program’s student of the year.
For her social work studies, Millward has completed practicum hours in the oncology department at McKay Dee, developing support groups for cancer patients. She also collaborated on a therapy program for sexual assault victims at the non-profit Your Community Connection Family Crisis Center in Ogden, according to a press release.
“Millward absolutely strives to be authentic and self-reflective and I have never seen a social work student use practicum supervision with such intention,” said Susan Cutler Egbert, assistant professor of social work at USU-Kaysville, as quoted in a release. “She kept her assigned mentors engaged and they appreciated her eagerness to learn.”
USU-Kaysville was one of four original sites hosting the MSW program, which was launched in 2008 at USU. It has since expanded to seven campuses.
