SALT LAKE CITY – Learning from the faculty and students at Juilliard may have seemed an impossibility to most, but courses designed by the school are now being offered to Utah students at no cost, through Utah Connections Academy.

Connections Academy, the parent company of UCA, is partnering with Juilliard eLearning to offer music courses for students from kindergarten through 12th grade, whether or not they are enrolled in the academy, according to a press release from UCA.

Melody and rhythm will be introduced in Experiencing Music, a course for students in grades K-2.

Students in grades three through five will learn fundamental musicianship skills in Discovering Music.

Exploring Music, the course for students in grades six through eight, will teach music appreciation and skills in listening, notation, analysis, performance and improvisation.

For high school students, material on music history, improvisation and composition, rhythm, beats and more, is included in the fourth course, Living Music.
