1934-2013

“Those who have given of themselves to others, will live forever in every single heart they have touched.”

After a lifetime of giving, Margene Morris Knowlton passed away on March 15, 2013 at the age of 78.

She was born in Logan, the youngest of five children to Arthur John and Golda Brown Morris on May 13, 1934.

Margene married George Edward Knowlton on June 2, 1953, in the Logan Utah Temple. She was the devoted mother of two daughters and five sons; Vicki (Ben) Gerlach, Brad (Shondell), Brian (Sue), Terri, Jared, Tyler (Alisa), and Ted (Laura) Knowlton; 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she loved us unconditionally. She always strived to keep us close.

Margene’s musical talent and love of music resonated in the lives of family and friends. Mom enriched her church and community through countless individual and group performances. She taught and mentored hundreds of piano students. The Utah Music Teachers Association (UMTA) benefitted from her leadership. She planned UMTA conventions, assisted with the Gina Bachauer Piano Competition and judged National Federation of Music Clubs. Mom always taught and inspired our family to enjoy, share, and participate in music.

Margene served wherever she was called in her LDS ward and stake. Her service was always marked with charity and tireless effort. As stake music director, she planned and prepared productions of Handel’s Messiah.

Mom’s generosity, holiday celebrating, and family game nights are legendary. She was always interested in what we were doing and made us feel special whenever we walked through her door.

The family wishes to thank caring neighbors, dear friends. and church members as well as exceptional medical professionals for all their kindness and support.

We love you, Mom. You will live forever in our hearts.

Funeral services were held, Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Interment, Draper City Cemetery.
