Little things that make the world brighter

Though I hate to admit it, I must confess that sometimes I forget to be thankful my wrist doesn’t hurt.

Of all people, I should be grateful my wrist doesn’t hurt because it wasn’t all that long ago that I would get sharp pain in my wrist for doing little things like buttering toast, writing by hand or typing.

Thanks to the knowledge of a surgeon and the magic of surgery, that pain is gone and I really should be grateful each morning when I wake up that I can do all those things you do with a wrist and it doesn’t hurt.

While I’m thinking about it, I really should be more thankful that someone figured out the principle of “lift,” whereby large groups of us heavy people and our heavy luggage can get off the ground and head off to adventures in faraway places.

Without the mastering of that principle, it would just take far too long to see what’s on the other side of the world.

I’m grateful for people who don’t mind purchasing and preparing food for others to just sit down and enjoy for a price, and those who memorize lines in a play or steps in a dance and share the things they can do to brighten my world.

I’m thankful for Google and Wikipedia, without which I would just go on forever wondering about the world instead of getting a little closer to figuring it out.

I’m grateful clean water comes out of my tap and fresh fruit is waiting for me in the grocery store. I’m grateful paved roads get me where I’m going faster and shoes not only have tough soles but soft sides.

I’m grateful for the varieties of M’n’Ms that are new to the world, when we’d mistakenly thought for so many years that we could survive with just two kinds.
