Letters: Spend Fridays with Concerts in the Park

Over the years, I have come to love the city of Bountiful and the friendly, caring people who reside here. For the past 26 years, I have witnessed this city grow and develop into a larger community than it was prior to moving here. With growth, the usual aches and pains creep into a city as change usually does. For the most part, however, change in Bountiful has been good for the community. But as Bountiful progresses and adapts to change, there is a sense that residents would like to return to that “small town” feeling.

Every small town has some common features, mainly a vibrant Main Street and beautiful parks. I believe that Bountiful has those qualities and the people here want to maintain our quality of life. As a member of the Community Council, we have had that goal of helping Bountiful enjoy their community. Part of the service from the council has been the Concerts in the Park. Every winter, we plan our concerts for the coming summer and we decide on the talent that we feel should be on our concert calendar. So far, our summer concerts, have been truly amazing. We want to thank those performers who have participated, the sponsors, the city and most importantly, the people of Bountiful for supporting our concerts.

We are halfway through the season with our Concerts in the Park and we hope the people take advantage of spending a Friday evening in our beautiful park while listening to great music. It is my hope that having music in the park is one way of returning that “small town” feeling back to Bountiful.

 -Richard Watson,

Director of Concerts In The Park and Candidate for Bountiful City Council
