Dear Editor:

How bad is it – how did it get this way?

Utah is lowest in per-pupil funding in the nation.

We are highest in class sizes.

Our test scores are lowest among our peer states.

So, what is wrong with Utah?

Have we abandoned our teachers?

Are students starving or malnourished or are we just underinvested?

Perhaps we are not that bad off?

Many say it’s not us to blame! Not us – the teachers, or the parents, nor the voters or taxpayers.

We point fingers outward – it’s those political parties, those legislators and closed caucuses, those school boards.

No, it’s the taxpayers’ association or what about the governor or past governors.

Let’s find out, let’s go to the debates tonight!
