Lady Vikings beat Darts, Wildcats thrash Cougars in Region 6

WOODS CROSS – Viewmont’s softball team was able to take down Davis last week to stay in the hunt for a spot in the 5A playoffs.

Bountiful lost to Clearfield 13-6 and Woods Cross scored 23 runs against Highland in a dominating victory.

Viewmont takes down Davis, 11-5 

The Vikings stayed in the hunt for a playoff spot in Region 1 with its convincing win over Davis, 11-5.

Viewmont scored two runs in the second inning, four in the third and three more in the fourth to take a 9-2 lead through four innings.

Davis scored two runs in the fifth, but Viewmont countered with two in the sixth to maintain its lead.

The Vikings were powered by four home runs in the win. Amanda Varley hit two and Caitlyn Larsen and Collette West each hit one.

Eliza Thornley got the win inside the circle.

Bountiful downed by Clearfield, 13-6

Clearfield scored four runs in the first two innings against Bountiful last Thursday, catapulting the Falcons to a 13-6 win.

The Lady Braves scored two runs in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 8-3, but five runs by Clearfield in the sixth put away the Braves for good.

Bailey Douglas earned the win inside the circle for Clearfield. 

Brooke Dickerson took the loss, and Madeline Nelson hit a double for Bountiful.

Woods Cross crushes Highland, 23-7

Woods Cross scored eight runs in the top of the first inning against Highland last Friday.

They also scored eight runs in the fourth inning to cruise to a 23-7 victory over the Rams.

Highland made the game interesting by scoring four runs in the first and one more in the second to make the scored 8-5. The Wildcats scored three runs in the third before its eight-run outburst in the fourth to blow the game open.

Maddie Sorensen picked up the win inside the circle. Mannie Johnson hit a double and a home run for the Wildcats.

Games this week

Thursday will see Davis hosting Syracuse to wrap up region play for the Darts. 

Bountiful and Woods Cross will both be on the road as they take on Highland and Cyprus, respectively, the same day.

Viewmont will wrap up its regular season Friday with an away game against Fremont.

Game times is 3:30 p.m.
