Kaysville Candidates

Mayoral candidate Steve Hiatt
Steve Hiatt - Mayor

I am a true advocate for residents of our community.  I love to give back, I love to problem solve, I love to bring people together, and I love to serve. I am running again to keep the positive momentum moving forward. I have helped to maintain the many fiscal benefits of living in this frugal community, including the second lowest property tax rate in Davis County, power utility rates that are lower than Rocky Mountain Power, as well as the “lowest cost per capita for government services “ in the state of Utah when compared to cities our size.

Arthur Whittaker - Mayor

I am running to return the city government to the people of Kaysville.  The City Council works for us, not the other way around.  If elected as mayor I would do away with the three minute rule that prevents we the people from voicing our opinions to the City Council.

I support Proposition 5 and will ensure that it is implemented and any excess money held in the electrical fund is returned to the citizens of Kaysville.  This includes the excess money the present City Council has elected not to use until after the election.

Brian Frandsen – City Council

I believe the citizens of Kaysville are entitled to representatives that exhibit integrity and moral leadership, who will represent their voices and values.

A municipality has no business dabbling in real estate speculation, and as a member of the city council, I want to be certain that our municipal funds are being spent as wisely and frugally as possible.

As an elected representative of Kaysville citizens, I will provide balance in the interests of business growth and neighborhood stability.

An elected representative understands that their accountability is to their constituents, NOT the city bureaucrats.

Susan Lee – City Council

I love Kaysville and have lived here for over 40 years; I know the community and its values. Kaysville citizens are kind and open and will help others when needed.  It concerns me to hear citizens of Kaysville who don’t feel like they’re being represented. I encourage these citizens to get out and vote. This is a great way to be heard.

If elected, I will bring diversity and a more conservative point of view. I can add a different perspective to issues.

I would appreciate your consideration and your vote, November 5th.

Gil Miller – City Council

During eight plus years of experience on the City Council, I have been willing to listen with no preconceived opinion, to study facts and circumstances, to be sensitive, and to make decisions that will preserve Kaysville’s heritage and carefully manage services and growth.

Wherever we live in the city, we can be friendly neighbors sensitive to the needs of those who live across town and in other communities, as well as those who live close to us. After living in Kaysville for 25 years, I recognize the strength of community and believe it is the foundation of our future.

Jared Taylor – City Council

Over the next four years I desire to continue to build the quality of life within the city.

Using innovative ideas and working to mitigate impacts of new developments will continue to be at the forefront of my role on the council.

We must continue to bring additional support to our local economy to support our tax base and provide the services that we as citizens desire.

Our growing population brings additional need to support our public safety infrastructure and I have become very well informed through my experience of the tools and manpower needed to properly provide for the city.
