On Friday July 4, 2014 in the early morning hours we said farewell to our beloved mother, grandmother, friend and wife: Geneel Rands. Geneel is survived by her husband Duane Rands, her sisters Renee and Floydella; her 8 children, 24 grandchildren, 3 great-grand children as well as numerous “adopted children” she considered family.

Geneel was born in Salt Lake City, on June 5, 1940 to Lena Marie Lee Olsen and Wilford Floyd Olsen. She married the love of her life Duane J Rands on Sept 27, 1957 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Geneel had an open and kind heart that lit up any room she came into, and her caring inclusive nature made her a second “mom” to so many. Geneel loved to spend her free time completing genealogy for the Church and for her family, singing in the Choir, making scrapbooks, crocheting. She loved to paint and also do woodworking. She was also an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and was just set in as part of the chapter council again.

She possessed a rare quality of spirit; devoting herself wholly to others and everything she did. She was a light and example of selflessness to others. If anyone needed anything she was there. Her friends were jewels that she charished. These qualities live on in the many hearts that she touched over her life, and she will never be forgotten.

The viewing will be on Friday, July 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Orchard 3rd Ward Stake House, 291 E Center St, North Salt Lake, with the service taking place on Saturday, July 12 at 2 p.m. also at the Orchard 3rd Ward Stake House. Viewing prior to the funeral service will start at 12 p.m. also at the 3rd ward stake house. Interment at Lakeview Memorial Cementery. Please address any condolences to Russon Brothers Mortuary 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah. 84010 or
