KAYSVILLE — Davis’ Zac Fuller made a quick transition from the basketball court to the baseball diamond, and in the Darts’ second game of the season, to boot.

The senior pitcher threw a complete game no-hitter against Cyprus Tuesday afternoon, striking out 13 Pirates en route to helping the Darts win 4-0.

The shutout by Fuller was Davis’ second of the season, and the only difference between Fuller pitching a perfect game and a no-hitter was a single error by the defense. Offensively, Bronson Larsen and Jackson Peacock each powered solo home runs. Larsen added a double and Peacock a triple, and the Darts scattered five more hits in the game, scoring single runs in the second, fourth, sixth and seventh innings.

Bountiful comes back to beat Layton, 4-2

Trailing 1-0 entering the top of the sixth inning, the Bountiful Braves baseball team crossed home plate four times to take the lead for good in Tuesday’s 4-2 win over Layton at Layton High School on Tuesday night.

Ricky Medrano picked up the win on the mound, striking out five Lancers. Ryan Curtis and Zac Muir each hit doubles for the Braves in the win.

Viewmont loses 3-2 to Timpanogos

The Vikings baseball team came to within inches of possibly taking their game against the Timberwolves into extra innings, but a final out caught at the base of the wall in left field ended the Vikings’ chance at a comeback, and the Vikings dropped their first game of the season 3-2.

Viewmont scattered six hits, scoring two runs in the top of the seventh before Timpanogos recorded the final out. Weston Sandberg and Brandon Jensen each recorded an RBI in the final inning, and couldn’t capitalize on a two-out RBI opportunity to tie the game or take the lead in the game.

Upcoming games

With a pair of wins to start the season, Davis will hit the road Friday afternoon to take on Copper Hills. Bountiful will travel to former region foe Stansbury Thursday and Viewmont will play Riverton in a double-header on Saturday at Riverton High School.

First pitch for Davis and Bountiful is 3:30 p.m., and Viewmont’s double-header will begin at 11 a.m.

Scores and stats were provided by the respective schools.
