Another week of high school football is done.

Sadly, that also means the regular season is nearly over.

On the bright side, my own streak of picking winners is increasing with each passing week, so that’s something to look forward to.

After ripping off six straight wins, Davis will take a much-needed rest this week.

Viewmont faces Syracuse in Region 1, and Woods Cross will travel to Highland in Region 6.

Bountiful will stay at home this week, playing host to Kearns.

Here goes.

Syracuse: 21

Viewmont: 14

The Titans are still a solid looking football team, and that can’t be ignored.

After being held to seven points against Davis in a 21-7 loss, the Titans have scored at least 28 points in each of their last two games.

Both ended in wins.

I was hoping the rivalry game for Viewmont was going to put some kind of spark on a Vikings team still waiting to get that first region win.

That wasn’t the case, and now the Vikings have a tough road ahead of them if they want to try and sneak into the 5A playoffs.

It’s difficult to point out what is wrong with the team. I haven’t seen them personally since the loss to Bountiful in Week 2, but on paper, they certainly haven’t done much.

Syracuse wins this one, but I’m hoping the Vikings will do something to point them in the right direction.

Woods Cross: 21

Highland: 17

This season, the Rams have done just enough to win, and haven’t looked too impressive despite their 4-2 record.

In two of the Rams victories this season they’ve scored more than 35 points. Against other lowly teams, however, they haven’t done enough to say “wow, they’re a team to be reckoned with.”

That isn’t the case for the Wildcats, who beat Bountiful last week and have looked very impressive against most teams this season.

Aside from the loss to East, the Wildcats’ defense hasn’t given up more than 21 points to any team.

This could be another one of those low-scoring defensive games. Given the choice, I pick the Wildcats.

Bountiful: 35

Kearns: 14

The Braves are in a tough spot in Region 6 after the loss to Woods Cross last week, but have a relatively easy pair of teams on the schedule this week and next.

Bountiful, winners of two of its last three games, still have the offensive fire power to perform well, even with the possible loss of Tanner Redding at receiver.

Redding was injured during last week’s game and didn’t return, and nothing has been said about his status as of press time.

Despite the possible loss, the Braves’ return to form has been a slow but steady one. The running game was back during its win over Layton, and they continued to run the ball successfully against Woods Cross.

Kearns has done a couple of positive things the past two weeks, picking up wins over Cyprus and Fremont.

The Cougars’ defense, however, has given up a lot of points against decent teams and good teams alike, which is a major concern for them moving forward.

Braves should win.

Until next week.

Last week: 2-0

This season: 17-3
