Eliza Hafen also beat out a Viewmont player in the No. 3 singles final, defeating Sarah Marple 7-5, 6-1.

Lady Darts Brooke Burningham and Emily Watkins beat Viewmont’s Nena Fillmore and Whitney Holman in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3. Kendall Sargent and Annie Gardner beat Fremont’s Kate Bolos and Bethany Minnoch for the second doubles title.

The 5A State girls’ tennis championships will be held at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City starting Wednesday, Oct. 9. The semi-finals and finals will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Davis and Viewmont will have representation in all five brackets.

The Vikings boys’ golf team won the school’s first region title since returning to the region this season. Kelton Hirsch and Boston Watts helped the Vikings in their push for the crown, finishing first and second.

Region rival Davis will still make the State 5A golf tournament, which starts Monday.

The State 5A golf tournament will be held at Alpine Country Club starting on Monday, Oct. 7.

Woods Cross and Clearfield will represent Region 6 in the 4A State golf tournament, taking place at Ogden Golf and Country Club the same days, information from an Ogden newspaper said.
