SYRACUSE — At the 5A State golf tournament, held at Glen Eagle in Syracuse on Monday, the Davis Darts and Viewmont Vikings girls’ golf teams shined.
Neither finished with a state title. Davis finished one point shy of catching Bingham for first place, finishing second overall and Viewmont placed in the top five, scoring 293 points to finish in fifth place.
Individually, Davis’ Jessica Sloot finished tied for second, shooting a 74 and scoring 88 points using the Stableford scoring system. Teammate Laura Gerner shot a 79, earning 83 points, and Ashley Hale shot an 89 with 72 Stableford points.
Viewmont’s Hanah Hall tied for seventh place with Gerner, shooting a 79. Mikenna Worthington shot an 85 with 77 points.
Rounding out the top four scores for Davis was Christine Sithivong, whose 73 points gave Davis a 317-point total, one shy of Bingham’s 318.
Viewmont’s Hall, Worthington and Jordann and Brooklyn Paget rounded out the scoring for the Lady Vikings, who finished with 293 points total.
Bingham’s Sirene Blair took home top individual honors by shooting a two-under-par 70. Teammate Sam Crawford tied Sloot for second place by shooting a 74, and Alta’s Madi Rooker placed fourth with a round of 75.
Weber’s Haylee Chugg and Brighton’s Cobair Collinsworth each posted 78 strokes and finished tied for fifth.
Both the Lady Darts and Lady Vikings won their respective region titles this season.
