Adam Patrick McBride, of Washington Terrace, died of his injuries on Sunday from multiple injuries he sustained after falling about 80 feet on Saturday evening. He had been hiking with a group of friends at the waterfall in Adams Canyon, according to Davis County Sheriff’s Sgt. Susan Poulsen.
Personnel from Davis County Search and Rescue and the Layton Fire Department responded after authorities received calls from hikers in the area regarding the teen.
A medical helicopter hoisted the teen out of the canyon and took him to Primary Children’s Hospital.
On Wednesday, McBride’s family issued a statement:
“Adam Patrick McBride was taken from us much too early in a tragic hiking accident over the weekend. Adam had a huge heart and a special smile that affected everyone he came in contact with. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank the Davis County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, Life Flight, and all of the EMTs and everyone at Primary Children’s for all of their efforts to try and save Adam. The family would also like to give a special thanks to the unknown woman who gave Adam CPR until emergency personnel arrived.”
Funeral services are set for 12:30 p.m. on Friday at Lindquist Mortuaries, 3408 Washington Boulevard, in Ogden.
