BOUNTIFUL — Davis County Christians will join their counterparts throughout the world in marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ with worship services, dramas, meals and other activities.
The following services are representative of those planned in Davis County, during Holy Week. Services are open to the public.
Assembly of God
The Christian Life Center, 2352 E. Highway 193 in Layton, will hold a sunrise service (weather permitting) in the church parking lot, at 8 a.m., on Easter morning. Services will also be held at 9 and 11 a.m.
At the Bountiful First Baptist Church, 1915 S. Orchard Drive, an Easter service will be at 11 a.m.
Bountiful Heights Baptist Church, 390 N. 400 East, is offering a visual presentation journeying through the Old and New Testaments on Good Friday at 7 p.m. Easter worship will be at 10:30 a.m.
The First Southern Baptist Church of Bountiful, 696 N. 400 East, is hosting a Secret Church simulcast on Good Friday. Easter morning worship will be at 11 a.m.
At Mountain View Baptist Church, 2585 E. 3000 North, Layton, a drama, “In the Presence of Jehovah,” will be presented at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 30. The Easter morning worship will be at 10:30 a.m.
St. Olaf Catholic Church, 1800 S. Orchard Drive, will celebrate a Holy Thursday Mass at 7 p.m. Good Friday Stations of the Cross will be held outside (weather permitting), and a Good Friday Liturgy will be at 7 p.m. On Holy Saturday, an Easter Vigil begins at 8:30 p.m. Easter Masses will be celebrated at 9 and 11:30 a.m.
St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 S. Chapel Street, Layton, will hold the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 p.m. on Holy Thursday, March 28. The Adoration of the Altar of Repose will follow from 8 p.m. until midnight in the social center. On Good Friday, the Stations of the Cross with the Seven Last Words begins at noon. The Divine Liturgy of the Passion and Death of the Lord will begin at 7:30 p.m. that night. On Holy Saturday, the Easter Vigil will be held at 8:30 p.m. There will be no 5 p.m. Mass. Easter masses will be celebrated at 8:30 an 10:30 a.m. in English and at 12:30 p.m. in Spanish.
The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 1131 S. Main, Centerville, will hold a Maundy Thursday Eucharist service at 7 p.m. with foot washing and stripping of the altar. On both Thursday and Friday, there will be a Vigil at the Altar of Repose from 8:30 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday. Good Friday Liturgies are planned for noon and 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Great Vigil of Easter is planned for 7 p.m. An Easter Sunday Eucharist service begins at 10 a.m.
St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 1579 S. State Street, Clearfield, will hold a special Easter morning service at 9:30 a.m., with the Eucharist and a choral cantata, “Lord of Glory,” by Stan Pethel. Following the service there will be a children’s Easter egg hunt.
At Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 1840 S. 75 East, Bountiful, a Maundy Thursday service will be at 7 p.m. A Good Friday service will also be at 7 p.m. Easter morning worship is scheuled for 10 a.m.
Grace Lutheran Church, 835 N. Main, Bountiful, will hold a Maundy Thursday service on March 28 at 7 p.m. A Good Friday Tenebrae service is also planned for 7 p.m. On Easter morning, a potluck breakfast will be at 9 a.m., followed by the Easter celebration at 10 a.m.
At Trinity Lutheran Church, 74 N. Fort Lane, Layton, a Good Friday service will begin at 6 p.m. Eater worship begins on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Westminster Church, 796 S. Mountain Road, Fruit Heights, will host Stations of the Cross on Good Friday at 7 p.m. On Saturday, there will be an Easter egg hunt at 10 am. A Resurrection Sunday service will be held on Easter at 10 a.m.
United Church of
Bountiful Community Church, 150 N. 400 East, will host a Maundy Thursday service of a light supper with communion service at 6 p.m.
