Bountiful, Davis win rivalry games over Woods Cross, Viewmont

WOODS CROSS – The Bountiful Lady Braves girls’ basketball team was able to sweep the season series against rival Woods Cross last Friday with a 63-42 win at Woods Cross High School.

At Viewmont High School, the Lady Darts were able to sweep the season series over the Vikings, claiming a 39-38 victory that assured Davis a No. 3 seed heading into the state 5A basketball tournament.

Bountiful sweeps Woods Cross behind Redding, Dougher

Kennedy Redding picked up a double-double for the Bountiful girls’ basketball team Friday night at Woods Cross High School.

Combined with Tiana Dougher’s 27 points, the Bountiful Lady Braves were able to sweep the season series over Woods Cross with a 63-42 victory.

Redding’s double-double was completed in the fourth quarter after she pulled down her 10th rebound on the night. She finished with 15 rebounds and scored 17 points for the Lady Braves.

Aubree Riddle scored 13 points and Halle Smith scored 10 points in the loss. 

Davis sweeps season series over Viewmont after a 39-38 battle

In a close battle throughout, the Davis Lady Darts were able to escape the Viewmont gym after claiming the season series over the Lady Vikings in a 39-38 win.

Davis was only able to out-score Viewmont in the third quarter, but it was enough to take a three-point lead. Viewmont’s 14 point fourth quarter wasn’t enough to overtake the lead, however, as Davis scored 12 points to take the win.

Sarah Beecher led the Lady Darts with 12 points in the win. McKinley Ottersen and McKenzie Day each scored six points for the Darts.

Caitlyn Larsen scored 16 points and had eight rebounds for Viewmont. Katie Toole scored 10 points and pulled down six rebounds in the loss.

Upcoming games

The state 4A and 5A girls’ basketball tournament starts Monday, Feb. 24 at Salt Lake Community College.

The tournament starts on Monday.
