SYRACUSE – After dropping the first game of the series last week, the Syracuse Titans and Davis Darts were back at Syracuse High School to play the second game Wednesday afternoon.

Inclement weather moved the game from Davis to Syracuse and the Titans took advantage of their home field by scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the lead for good, eventually winning 5-3.

Davis scored a pair of runs to start the game after Kaden Day and Connor Blaisdell each crossed the plate for the early lead.

Syracuse countered in the bottom of the first with a single run, but Davis responded by scoring one run in the second inning to take a 3-1 lead. Ben Rigby reached base on an error to start the inning and reached second on a single by Ethan Hansen.

Two batters later, Rigby scored on a double play hit by Kaden Day and the Darts had their two-run lead back.

Syracuse countered by scoring a single run in the third inning and three more in the fourth, giving the Titans the lead for good.

In the bottom of the third inning, Dax Harris walked to start the inning and moved to second on a fielder’s choice. An RBI single by Zach Ricker brought Harris home.

In the fourth, Jake Heninger led off the inning getting hit by a pitch and moved to second on a pass ball. Heninger moved to third on a wild pitch, and then scored on an RBI single hit by Chase Baurle.

Kole Tracy hit an RBI triple to right-center field two batters later, bringing in Baurle. Harris followed by hitting an RBI single to right field and give the Titans the 5-3 lead.

On the mound for Syracuse, Tracy pitched all seven innings despite giving up the three runs early on. Tracy finished the game allowing nine hits and two earned runs. He also struck out six hitters.

For Davis, Day started the game but only pitched into the second inning, allowing one run but walking four batters. Kurt Volmar pitched the rest of the game, going five innings allowing four runs on four hits with three strike outs.

The Darts and Titans will play the final game of the three-game series Thursday at Davis High School. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
