LAYTON — The Davis Arts Council is offering a combo platter of entertainment options this summer.

This year’s lineup for the council’s Summer Nights with the Stars concert series includes everything from comedians to classic rock bands to dance groups.

On top of that, the Family Night and Shakespeare in the Park performances are back for their fourth year.

“It’s an eclectic season this year,” said arts council Executive Director Kirt Bateman. “I’m calling it the ‘Something for Everyone’ season.”

The season kicks off on June 24 with local bands Code Blue and Midlife Crisis, followed on June 29 with a tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. July 8 features the Happy Together Tour, which includes band members from Three Dog Night, Paul Revere & the Raiders, Gary Lewis & the Playboys and more.

This trip into pop music’s past continues on July 27, when Huey Lewis & the News comes to the Ed Kenley stage.

“We’ve been looking to bring them here for several years, so it’s exciting to get them this year,” said Bateman. “It’s definitely going to be one of our biggest shows.”

July 27 marks the appearance of folk singer/songwriter Judy Collins, while the tri-state country trio Due West will take to the stage on August 1. Comedian Wayne Brady, a regular cast member on “Who’s Line Is It Anyway?” and current host of “Let’s Make A Deal,” will perform August 7.

“Wayne Brady is hilarious,” said Bateman. “He does an interactive show. He’ll write songs that night from audience suggestions.”

This year’s Family Night performance, set for August 12, features the children’s recording group Recess Monkey. Local country group Rough Stock will take to the stage August 17, while Shakespeare in the Park finishes out the month. This year’s production, “As You Like It,” runs August 28-31.

September 3 features the re-appearance of the dance group Rhythm Circus, which first came to Ed Kenley Amphitheater in 2010.

“They’re back by popular demand,” said Bateman. “It’s just so incredible what they can do with their feet.”

The season wraps up on Sept. 7 with two well-known local singer songwriters, Peter Breinholt and Mindy Glendhill.

Season ticket holder renewals will run now through tomorrow, April 19. Individual tickets will go on sale May 6. For more information, call 801-546-8575 or visit the council website here.
