From the parking lot the trail starts next to the chain-link fence. You get your heart rate up at the start, as the trail switchbacks up to the Shoreline Trail. At the first fork, take the middle fork. Quickly you’ll arrive at the Shoreline Trail, where you should stay right heading into the canyon. The trail levels off, then drops to the north side of Holmes Creek. At .75 miles you will see a footbridge over the creek below you. Stay on the trail heading uphill. There is plenty of shade as you make your way along the creek. You arrive at a footbridge at 1.5 miles and the trail becomes more steep and difficult to the waterfall. Take your time and be careful as you pick your way along this treacherous section. To see the waterfall you have to cross the creek. In the fall this isn’t a problem, but spring run-off could have dangerously high levels. Never enter the creek in these conditions. The spectacular 40-foot waterfall hides behind the last bend in the creek. Enjoy!
